From Budgeting to Confidence: Supporting Students’ Financial Futures
It’s been a busy and rewarding month for Pasadena FCU as we continue our commitment to bringing financial literacy education directly to local youth. Over the last few days, Rick Flores visited several high schools across the area, including Alhambra High School and Rose City High School in Pasadena, spending time with students in honest, engaging conversations about budgeting and financial safety. These sessions were designed to meet students where they are and give them practical tools they can use right now and well into the future.
During the workshops, students learned how to set realistic financial goals, build a plan of action, and use simple budgeting tools to stay on top of bills, reduce debt, build credit, and prepare for unexpected expenses. The discussions were interactive and thoughtful, with students asking great questions and sharing their own goals and concerns. One especially meaningful moment came at Rose City High School, where students surprised Rick with a small token of appreciation—a simple gesture that meant the world and reminded us why this work matters so much.
At Pasadena FCU, we believe that empowering young people with financial knowledge helps set them up for long-term success and confidence. We’re grateful to the schools that open their doors to these conversations and look forward to reaching even more students in the months ahead. If your school or organization is interested in hosting a financial literacy workshop, please contact Rick Flores at rflores@pfcu.org. We’d love to partner with you to make a lasting impact in our community.
